About Zhineng Qigong

What is Qigong?

For more than two thousand years, the chinese have been practising Qigong, which replenishes and revitalises Qi in the human body, for health and wellness longevity, cure and prevention of illness.

In simple terms, Qigong is a practice of Qi. The chinese character Qi has two meanings, namely gas and energy. However, in Qigong practice, the word Qi has been expanded to denote nature’s vital energy source, and Qi is regarded as the most fundamental element that forms all life in the universe. Since ancient times, Qi has been known as Yuan Qi in many martial art theories and traditional physical exercises. Yuan Qi is also referred as the energy source that sustain life. According to Qigong theory, nature and human’s Qi are able to interact with each other and they are inter-changeable. Thus, the purpose of Qigong training is to induce nature’s Qi into the human body to replenish and revitalise Qi in the body.

The renowned Chinese Qigong teacher, Professor Pang Ming, had develope a new set of Qigong technique based on the theory of holistic life. In his teaching, Qigong is a set of training to develope and use the sensations of Qi and reactions to improve the vital functions of human body and organs. His Qigong techniques are structured to improve human self-awareness (or human instinct). In other words, Qigong training helps one to achieve an excellent health condition and to live a wholesome life.

What is Zhineng Qigong?

Zhineng Qigong was developed by Professor Pang Ming in 1980.  Professor Pang is a practitioner of both traditional Chinese and western medicine in China. He combined the best of Chinese virtues and principles, traditional Qigong practices, and knowledge in science, medicine and philosophy to create Zhineng Qigong . It is a new set of Qigong practices that enrich and promote better flow of Qi in human body.

Professor Pang Ming

Zhineng Qigong captures and retaines key functions and benefits of traditional Qigong practices such as healing illnesses, maintaining body fitness, developing human abilities and longevity. The practice of Zhineng Qigong may strengthen human mental powers and develope eatraordinary mental abilities. Besides spreading the doctrines of traditional Qigong that place emphasis on improvement of physical and mental health, Zhineng Qigong also leads in the modenisation of traditional Qigong.

The Chinese character, Zhi means wisdom and intelligence, a synthesis of functions performed by minds in dealing with external matters.  Neng means human ability in both physical and spritual aspects. Hence Zhineng Qigong is regarded as a set of Qigong practice through which human intelligence may be developed, and human ability may be enhanced. It helps to enhance our intelligence as well as develope super-intelligence.

Nine Distinctive Features Of Zhineng Qigong

1) Features One: Unique Theory – Hunyuan Qi Theory

Professor Panf Ming developed the the theory of Hunyuan Qi that is based on the principles of ancient Qigong and morden scientific knowledge. The theory suggests that Hunyuan Qi of a substance is formed by the substance’s physical matter, it’s energy and messages (an invisible status of the substance). This Hunyuan Qi can be controlled by one’s mind and willpower. Thus, through the training of Zhineng Qigong, one can transform nature’s Hunyuan Qi into body’s Hunyuan Qi. When the bidy is completely filled with abundant Hunyuan Qi, it’s functions become nermal/

2) Feature Two: Systematic Approach In Practice

There are three types of practicing techniques: dynamic, static and synamic-static.

The first dynamic practicing technique is Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa (PQGDF). This technique aims to strengthen the functions of body membranes and unify Hunyuan Qi in the superficial layer of human body and nature. Through this technique, a practitioner is able to release his body’s Hunyuan Qi and absorb external Qi, resulting in a strong and pure bodily Hunyuan Qi. Apart from improving the functions of body membranes and all organs, in some cases, it helps to stimulates the development of super-intelligence and super-natural abilities such as the ability to see Qi and to mentally diagnose one’s health condition.

The second dynamic practicing technique is Xing Shen Zhuang (XSZ). This technique helps to mobilise human physical body and mental Hunyuan Qi, and in turn facilitate the permeating of Hynyuan Qi from body membranes into other body structures. Xing Shen Zhuang has specific effects on five body structures, namely skin, muscles, ligaments, blood vessels and bones. Though Xing Shen Zhuang, the Hynyuan Qi in these five body structures become plentiful, resulting in health imprevement.

The third dynamic practice technique is Wu Yuan Zhuang. This technique is specifically designed to improve the functions of five organs, namely heart, liver, pancreas, lungs and kidneys. It aims too replenish Qi in these internal organs as well as improve their activities. Wu Yuan Zhuang is also able to strengthen a practitioner’s ability to control Qi.

3) Feature Three: Adapted From The Best Traditional Chinese Practices

Zhineng Qigong is based on many traditional Chinese principles and practices in Qigong. Professor Pang had gatherd the best of these theories and practices, systematically organised and integrated them into Zhineng Qigong. Thus, we encourage practitioners to learn these invaluable teachings to enhance their Qigong training.

4) Feature Four: A 3-Pronged Teaching Approach

Zhineng Qigong is taught with a 3-pronged approach, namely – mind, oral instruction and physical movement.

i) Mind Approach

Mind approach is used to create Qi-field. When a teacher conducts Qigong training to a group of practitioners, he creates a Qi-field in the training ground. Through the Qi-field, the teacher is able to mentally control and direct Qi to all practitioners. He is able to use his mind to harmonise nature’s Hunyuan Qi and practitioners’s Hynyuan Qi to make the Qi-field strong and complete.

ii) Oral InstructionApproach

Zhineng Qigong places equal emphasis on both theories and physical training. Lectures on Qigong theory hellp to generate a better understanding of training techniques, create better awareness of Qigong among the practitioners, and better understanding of the effects of Zhineng Qigong on one’s life. Thus, it is essential to attend these lessons so that proper teaching of Zhineng Qigongis learnt.

iii) Physical Movement Approach

The best way to learn Zhineng Qigong is to practice its techniques. In zhineng Qigong training, every physical movement and body posture is well structured and co-ordinated, and proper physical training will accord a practitioner with the ability to manage one’s Qi. Therefore, it is important to observe and follow instructor’s movements and steps given during training.

5) Feature Five: A Technique Of Mental Concentration

Zhineng Qigong does not focus on a specific mental activity. However, its training requires one to stay focused and concentrate on every step and movement during training, and when necessary to focus on a specific body part. In short, one needs to stay focused and concentrate when practising.

6) Features Six: Qi-attraction Methods

Qigong training assistes one to control Qi to improve the flow of Qi. Zhineng Qigong helps a practitioner to control and direct Qi through three Qi-attraction methods.

i) Qi-attraction Using The Mind

This method uses the mind to direct external and nature’s Hunyuan Qi into the body to strengthen ot’s Hunyuan Qi. PQGDF is developed for this purpose.

ii) Qi-attraction Using Physical Movements

This method uses body posture and physical movements to stimulate the flow of Qi through all meridians and blood vessels. Xing Shen Zhuang uses this Qi-attraction method.

iii) Qi-attraction Using Sound

In this method, sound is used to control Qi. Body Qimay be directed to flow into different body parts by making a specific sound. For example, the sound ‘xing’ may direct Qi to the heart, while the sound “song’ may direct Qi to the lungs. Wu Yuan Zhuang uses this Qi-attraction method.

7) Feature Seven: An Open-method Of Qigong

Traditional Qigong methods are known as the close-methods. This close-method requires a practitioner to keep their jing (essence), qi and shen (mind) in the body at the atart of training and then releases them at a later specific stage of training.

Zhineng Qigong is an open-method that allows a practitioner to release the xing (phisical form), qi and more importantly, shen (mind) at an early stage of training. The reason for releasing the shen is to sustain’s one’s mental activity on good morality of nature and society, while releasing the xing integrates Zhineng Qigong practices into our daily life. During Qi-fields formation, each practitioner has to release his shen and Qi as well as move in tendem with other practitioners. When all minds are focused as one, a strong Qi-field is formed.

8) Feature Eight: Using Qi To Heal Others

Practising PQGDF will enabl a practitioner to attract, release and direct Qi. In Zhineng Qigong, a practitioner may direct external Qi to heal a patient. Since the external Qi used is healing process is nature’s Hunyuan Qi and not human physical body’s Dantian Qi, it is safe for the practitioner to heal others and without injuring himself in the process.

9) Feature Nine:  Zhineng Qigong Reactions

During Qigong training, some practitioners may experience reations such as discomfort, rashesm pain or even worsening of a particular ailment. This is normal and is known as Qigong reation. When this happens, one should not be alarmed or get discouraged but continue and perservere with the training. There are 3 possible Qigong reations:

i) Warding Off Disease Reations

In some cases, Zhineng Qigong training may not cure illness immediately but may help excrete toxins or negetive elements present in the human body. When this happens, one may experience reations such as rashes or pain. When a practitioner developes such reactions, he should not stop the practice but perservere in  his training. Persistent Zhineng Qigong training may ultimately stop all Qigong reactions and improve the practitioner’s health.

ii) Unknown Problematic Reations

During Qigong training, a practitioner may experience discomfort at problematic parts of the body. In some cases discomfort or pain may become more intense than before. This reation signifies the problematic body parts have regained their senses and functions, and thus feeling of pain. The practitioner should continue with the training that may ultimately reduce the pain or heal the problematic body parts.

iii) Progressive Training Reations

A healthy persons may further improve his health through continuous and progressive training. As one progresses to a higher level of Qigong training, he may experience different reations at various stages of the training. These reations are due to the internal body self-cleansing prosess that will lead to an improvement in health.

Benefits Of Zhineng Qigong

1) Prevention And Healing Of Illness

Zhineng Qigong training can balance one’s yin and yang, smoothen the flow of Qi and blood, loosen nerves and improve the quantity and quality of Qi in the body. All these attributes will lead to enrichment of energy in a practitioner’s life, cure illnesses and improve the health of the weak and old.

These positive effects of Zhineng Qigong, especially on human body systems are well documented. Examples of these effects are described here.

a) Effect On Nervous System

Zhineng Qigong can repair and maintain the function of our nervous system. During Qigong practice, our brain electromagnetic wave (α) amplitude will increase and focus on the forehead. This helps further develope our left and right brains concurrently resulting in an improvement of one’s senses, movements and thinking.

b) Effect On Blood Circulations

Zhineng Qigong can improve blood flow in the arteries and veins, which, helps to attain good blood circulation in the body.

c) Effect On Respiratory System

Zhineng Qigong can improve lung function resulting in steady exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

d) Effect On Gastroinstinal System

Zhineng Qigong can improve digestion by increasing saliva and gastric juice production. It also increases intestinal mortility.

e) Effect On Hormon System

Zhineng Qigong can influence the hypothalamus and other hormon-secreting organs. For instance, it reduces metabolism of adrenaline and noradenaline and lowers blood cholesterol level. Clinical studies have shown that Zhineng Qigong can improve diabetic control, hyoeradrenalism (excess of adrenaline), post-menopausel discomfort and other hormonal-induced disorders.

2) Increase Longevity

Many practitioners have shown that Zhineng Qigong may prolong life span. Scientific studies have shown that Zhineng Qigong helps to regulate the release of sex harmones and slow down aging process. In morden medicine, it is believed that the life span of a person is influenced by one’s lifestyle. The practice of Zhineng Qigong enables one to live in accordance to nature’s rhythm, thus enriching one’s zest and leading to a healthier and longer life.

3) Healing Effect And Enhancement Of General Health

Some practitioners have experienced healing of common and chronic diseasesm and in some instancesm serious and life-threatening conditions too. This effect may be experienced in the early stages of Qigong training and serves as an impetus for the practitioners to continue with the training.

4) Enhance Intelligence/Mental Capability

A sound training of Zhineng Qigong improves one’s intelligence. The practice of Zhineng Qigong requires a practitioner to be constantly in the stage of complete mental relaxation. This improves brain function and thereby increases the effectiveness of brain activities.

5) Cultivation Of Virtue

Practising Zhineng Qigong helps to replenish one’s Qi and in turn, helps the practitioner to relax and to improve temperament. The teaching of Zhineng Qigong encourages one to be conscious of good and moral values at all times, and to cultivate one’s virtue.

6) Uncover Hidden Capabilities

Through the enhancement of intelligence, Zhineng Qigong enables some hidden capabilities that are unknown to the individual practitioner to be discovered.

Professor Pang has designed six levels of Zhineng Qigong techniques and these are summarised as below:-

Level 1 – Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa

Level 2 – Xing Shen Zhuang

Level 3 – Wu Yuan Zhuang

Level 4 –  Zhong Mai Hunyuan

Level 5 – Zhong Xian Hunyuan

Level 6 – Fan Ben Gui Yuan (Hun Hua Gui Yuan)

The first three levels have been fully developed and are now widely practised by millions worldwide. The remaining three levels are yet to be published and taught.
